Spello does not collect, store, transmit, or sell any of your data. Full stop.
Spello checks your spelling and grammar entirely on your own device, inside your browser. The text you type is analyzed locally and never leaves your computer. We have no servers that receive your writing, and we do not use analytics, tracking, advertising, or fingerprinting of any kind.
Spello makes no network requests of any kind. The English word list it uses for spell checking is bundled inside the extension and read from your own disk. Nothing is downloaded at runtime, and your text is never transmitted anywhere. Spello works completely offline.
The following are saved only in your browser's local storage, on your machine, and are never uploaded: the cached word list, your personal dictionary (words you add), the list of sites where you've turned the extension off, and the saved position of the on-screen panel. You can clear all of it at any time by removing the extension.

The content script reads the text in fields you type into, solely to check it on your device.
